TDB backs India’s first made in India stroke treatment device by S3V Vascular

India’s Technology Development Board (TDB) has announced financial backing for S3V Vascular Technologies to develop and manufacture the country’s first fully indigenous mechanical thrombectomy device for stroke treatment.

The device is designed for mechanical thrombectomy — a key procedure in treating ischemic stroke.
TDB will support S3V’s efforts to locally manufacture high-end neuro-intervention tools like stent retrievers and aspiration catheters.
New manufacturing facility in Chennai
A new plant will be established at Chennai’s Medical Devices Park.
The facility aims to reduce India's reliance on imported devices and lower costs.
Global expansion and government integration
S3V plans to pursue CE and USFDA approvals to enter global markets.
The company also aims to integrate the devices under national healthcare schemes like Ayushman Bharat.
